At
8 a.m., the temperature was 24 C, with a moderate west wind of 9 knots and a
blue sky with a ring of thin fluffy clouds around the horizon. The waves were about one meter high. We are cruising due east north of the
Venezuelan coast toward Grenada, heading 91. We had breakfast in the dining
room on Deck 3 at a table for 2, between another table for 2 and a table for 4
where another couple sat. No conversation with the other tables. Then we changed
to walking clothes for a 45 minute (4 km) circuit around Decks 14 and 15. We
went to the Aqua Spa café for a refreshing fruit punch and lemonade beverage.
Then went to separate pursuits including a 75 minute shopping presentation for
Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia and Antigua. We received some coupons and discount
cards for stores that we thought we might visit when we return from our tours,
although there won’t be any time for shopping in Grenada as the ship is there
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and we have an eight tour leaving at 8:30. We met for some more walking on Decks 14
& 15 and watched some of the glass blowing demonstration at the ovens by
the real grass lawn on Deck 15, then stopped at the Pool Bar for a Mojito and a
frozen daiquiri. We walked 7,442 steps
so far today. For lunch, we went to the dining room balcony on Deck 4 where we
sat with two women from Sydney, Australia, and a couple from Illinois. We
forgot about the Tango dance lesson at 1.Temperature at 3 is 29 C, wind 7 knots
gusting to 11 knots.
During
the afternoon, we walked some laps on decks 14 & 15 then went to Café Al
Bacio, on Deck 5, to order “Iglu” frozen coffee beverage and took it back to
the outside pool, on deck 12, to find chairs in the shade to settle into to read
our books.
It
was the second of three formal nights, so the Grand Foyer was being used for
group photos. Even though the Blue Velvet jazz band was playing, the cameras
and lights were occupying the dance floor. Our regular eight were at the dinner
table. We both ordered a glass of wine, then for appetizers Cajun Shrimp and Wild
Mushroom Vol au Vent followed by Tomato & Watermelon Salad. The entrées selected
at our table were: Chateaubriand and baked chicken. Dessert was Pineapple
Upside Down Cake or Vanilla custard with berries.
After
dinner, our whole table headed for the 8:30 first show so that we could sit
together. The doors of the theatre
opened at 8 and by 8:10, most of the 1500 seats were full. The production presentation was a spectacular
show of aerial artists in fabulous costumes doing fantastic aerial stunts on
hoops, 30 foot long fabric and trapezes.
After the show Larry went to the casino while I finished the blog. The
Canadian $ was only worth 0.7919 in American funds. Final steps were 12005. No pictures today.
